Narrative History

The development of this page is an ongoing endeavour pulling together the history of our village in narrative form. It must therefore always been seen as a working document where items will appear and disappear as the narrative develops.

Hello, does anyone have any knowledge of the Brumpton family from the early 20 century? My maiden name was Brumpton.
    Thanks,
    Maxine Davy

Hi Maxine, sorry about the 4 year delay in replying – there are lots and lots of Brumptons in the village. Download the database from the History Group section for full details. One of them, William Brumpton, was the village postmaster in the 1870’s 1880’s (before the shop was built) and therefore we know he lived in Woodbine Cottage.

Hi Tim, thanks for that. We do have a William in our family tree. I didn’t realise that he was a postmaster.

    Hello
William Brumpton (born 1801) was my GGG Grandfather. The family appears to have been in the area for many years. An earlier William Brumpton was born in Willingham in 1628. However i don’t know the link between the two Williams. Does any body know who preceded the William born in 1801?

    Ron
